Harrogate Festival Choral Course Website

Course Timetable

The third Harrogate Festival Choral Course will run from Tuesday 24th August to Sunday 29th August 2010.

Registration is between 3.00pm and 5.30pm and the course begins officially with a warm welcome and dinner followed by the first full choir rehearsal. The evening will conclude with a champagne reception as old friendships are renewed and new ones are formed.

On Wednesday and Thursday both the full choir and chamber choir rehearsals take place in the morning and early evening.

Vocal master classes will take place during Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon. These are included in the cost of the course and singers can volunteer to take part or sit back and relax as members of the audience for the Wednesday class. The Thursday session will be a "vocal clinic" with coaching on an individual basis.

Other new opportunities for afternoons in 2010 include a conducting master class and an opportunity for singers to come together informally for madrigal and part-song singing. Naturally these sessions are all optional and singers can use their afternoons for free time if they wish.

Rehearsals continue on Friday culminating in a concert in The Phoenix Centre at Queen Ethelburga's in the evening. This will feature the male and female voice choirs and talented young musicians Richard Uttley and Matthew Neville.

On Saturday evening, the Harrogate Festival Chorus and Orchestra will perform in the magnificent Ripon Cathedral. Rehearsals will be held in the venue during the day.

..

Departure is after breakfast on Sunday 29th.

Participants are encouraged to enjoy all aspects of the course by attending on a residential basis. Single or twin-bedded accommodation is available in ground and first floor apartments. All the apartments have ensuite facilities and fully equipped individual kitchens. (Visit our page 'venues' for more details of the accommodation.)

However, we appreciate that singers from the local area may wish to take part in the excellent music-making opportunities without the need for accommodation on site. The cost of this non-residential option is detailed on the 'costs' page in the 'Register and Apply' section.
